What is the role of a DBA?
This is a very simple question that requires a very lengthy answer. In fact, I wrote a book that answers that question by the title of "Database Administration: The Complete Guide to Practices and Procedures." For a somewhat shorter answer, seek out the series of articles by the name of "What is a DBA?" that I wrote a year or so ago. These articles were extracted from my DBA book. You can find the first article in the series here. Links to each of the next articles in the series can be found at the bottom of each article. Click here for more information on my DBA book.
