Date: Nov 06, 2013

LAS VEGAS -- Is information stored in Hadoop just another data type? The answer is yes, according to IBM Senior Vice President Steve Mills, who spoke to reporters this week at the IBM Information on Demand conference.

Mills was at the conference introducing SmartCloud Analytics, a new set of predictive and cognitive computing tools designed to help users better manage big data implementations.

In this video, SearchDataMangement's Jack Vaughan, who is attending the Information on Demand conference, talks about Mills' announcement and other IBM news. Vaughan also gives his take on IBM's attempts to commercialize its Watson artificial intelligence technology, which gained notoriety for beating Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings at his own game.
