Taking second-place honors for data integration was Pervasive's Data Integrator v9.0. That gives the vendor two wins in the program this year, as it also took the Bronze in the data quality category for its data profiling tool. In the data integration category, judges gave Data Integrator 9.0 the highest marks for value and ease of use. For its part, Pervasive says Data Integrator enables rapid, affordable integration with 150+ data sources and applications for almost any conceivable integration challenge. Pervasive Data Integrator helps provide scalable extract, transform and load (ETL) capabilities for rapid design and maintenance of transactional processes, SaaS and legacy data stores, and support for industry trade standards – including Web Services and J2EE standards.

Pervasive said that Data Integrator v9, released late in 2008, has new enhancements, including an open architecture solution enabling customers, partners and developers to more easily build custom adapters -- and SaaS vendors and independent software vendors (ISVs) to quickly extend applications for more rapid integration capabilities. Other new features in Pervasive Data Integrator include a new Data Services platform with a Service Data Objects (SDO) standards-based Data Mediation Services software developer kit; a Progress Sonic ESB 7.0 Service Container; Bidirectional HL7 to XML and NCPDP scripts to enrich support for ESB and SOA healthcare implementations and simplify validation and transformations; more platform support; and updated connectors and components.

The vendor offers two pricing models for Data Integrator: traditional perpetual licensing and subscription-based licensing. Perpetual licenses range from $3,000 to $6,000 for design seats, and deployment is priced between $4,000 and $15,000 per production engine. Subscription-based licensing for design studio ranges from $200 to $300 per month, and production engine subscriptions range from $450 to $750 per month.
