SILVER AWARD: Dataupia--Dataupia Satori Server 12000
Data warehouse appliances took over the category this year, with judges giving their second highest scores to the Dataupia Satori Server 12000. In addition to being part of a quickly-growing category of data warehouse appliances, the vendor claims that its the Dataupia Satori Server is the only system specifically designed for database and application transparency, supporting applications running on Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and DB2 databases natively. This "omniversal transparency," as the vendor refers to it, delivers compatibility within a company's existing infrastructure, removing limitations on storage capacity and enhancing dependent applications. They certainly convinced the judges, who were impressed with the ease of integration, scalability and performance of the product.
The Dataupia Satori Server enables companies to implement a data warehouse more efficiently, by performing the complex work of data management without constant intervention, tuning and maintenance -- key concerns according to judges, experts and the authors of Gartner's 2007 data warehouse DBMS Magic Quadrant.. Industry-standard components mean that specialized experts aren't required to install or maintain the appliance. And, the appliance augments an organization's existing data management system, according to the vendor, so that organizations don't have to "rip and replace" existing technology. Its design offers a non-disruptive, continuously scalable and highly cost-effective means to expand data management capabilities, so that organizations can save important business data with minimal overhead -- key in data-heavy industries.
A key differentiator is The Dataupia Satori Server's innovative architecture and ability to amplify and work with organizations' current information systems. It helps organizations expand data retrieval capabilities and gain access to detailed, "atomic" level data. This provides organizations with a distinct business advantage.
At a practical level, Dataupia designed the Satori Server to take up less space and use less power than some other data warehousing technologies -- an important concern, judges report. The vendor says it can hold 10 terabytes of data in 9.9 cubic square feet as opposed to some products that hold the same amount of data in 20 cubic feet. The Dataupia Satori Server was also designed with high-efficiency processors to lower power consumption, as well as efficient cooling systems.
Dataupia systems start at $19,500 for 2 terabytes of capacity and all of the processing power. Learn more about the Dataupia Satori Server 12000
