Corporate performance management (CPM) -- sometimes referred to as business performance management (BPM) or enterprise performance management (EPM) -- is a rapidly evolving discipline that's increasingly making its way out of finance departments and into the overall enterprise. Now, CPM is often used in conjunction with business intelligence (BI) to drive enterprise-wide performance improvements. The changing market (and varying terms) can make grasping CPM basics and best practices confusing.
