What is the role of DBMS in RDBMS?

>
Well, a DBMS is a database management system. In other words, a piece of software (an engine if you like) that manipulates data in a structured fashion. If that engine organizes that data in line with the relational model, then it is a relational DBMS, or RDBMS.
