Is a Coupling Facility needed to use DB2 Connect in a Sysplex?

A coupling facility is required for DB2 to implement data sharing. The coupling facility is not required if you are not doing data sharing. It really has nothing to do with DB2 Connect at all. DB2 Connect facilitates access to a DB2 server from remote clients.
